Adjusting The Diet

Picture
Adjustment of the diet is based on whether foods are hot/cold/damp/dry. Some examples are given below.

To COOL the body off, there are cool, raw foods, and the use of mint; to WARM the body, there are hot foods and the use of ginger; to DRY the body, there are tasty bitters and the use of sage; to MOISTEN the body, there are soups and stews, and perhaps the use of licorice.

In Ayurveda the “Rule of Similars” states that: “Like Attracts Like” and its corollary is “Like Creates Like”, hence we are attracted to foods and movements that actually foster the old patterns! Flexibility of attitude is the key!

You will find that having an attitude of openness toward new possibility and experimentation, sincere dedication and earnestness, an open mind to having fun and play, and/or a sense of humor will greatly help the dietary transition to your dosha-specific dietary regimen!
