Subtle Anatomy: The Channels and Movement of the Energy Body

Picture
In Western medical science, we learn that there is circulation – of blood, of lymph, of cerebrospinal fluid. In Eastern medical science (including Ayurveda) we also acknowledge that there is movement of energy*/prana/chi. Sometimes this circulating energy is labeled electricity, but it is MUCH more than that!  “Ener-chi” is the circulation of Life Itself!

It is important to remember that all cells in the body have prana that must flow. Like the water element, prana must flow; otherwise energy “cysts” (blockages) can result in blood or tissue obstructions, and can lead to tumor or polyp formation. Emotions can stagnate an energy flow as well, for instance, if fear or anxiety persists over time, the kidney channel may become weakened, which could then manifest as a urinary tract disorder. Likewise, if anger and irritability persists over a prolonged period, the liver channel, then the liver organ, may be adversely affected.
